Be Prepared on Show Day
Having done 3 shows, I know now what to bring/what NOT to bring to the venue!! Being over prepared is fine, but you do NOT want to be left short. Some things other competitors share freely, but you don't want to be known as the "bum" or just feel inadequate because you don't have the things that you need. It's good also if you know another competitor and decide amongst yourselves that you are going to share an item(s). Here is my list of things that I feel should be brought with you on show day. posing suit (if you are not already wearing it when you leave the house). And in case you are thinking "I'm not stupid, I'd never forget that", let's just say that by this point, being depleted as you are, you are liable to forget your head if it wasn't already attached!!
extra posing suit if you have one
at least 1 towel, facecloth
soap, shampoo, etc, if you are going to shower at the venue
whatever tanning supplies you are using (ProTan, DreamTan, etc) plus posing oil or Pam, bikini bite or 2 sided tape (or both)
extra set of clothes that you don't mind having stained. Sandals or something to wear on your feet backstage
a sheet to stand on while you put on a coat of tan, or oil up (remember that you are not home and you want to respect the space that you are in)
camera (you will want pics of the backstage action! Have a friend/relative take pics of you onstage) and extra batteries
money (you never know what you want it for)
your carb up food (whatever it is that you and/or your trainer decides it will be) Do NOT bring copious amounts- only what you need. You can bring a "treat" for after you are done onstage (chocolate is always good!!) Also bring sodium free water to sip on
paper towels (good for tucking into your suit while getting your tan on)
extra copy of your posing music
needle and thread to match your suit, safety pins (you never know when you may need it)
makeup for the girls. You need to apply a LOT to be seen while you are performing. It does make you look better in my opinion.
plastic bags to keep clothes/towels away from tanning products
any special weight training equipment that you may use. Most venues will provide free weights.
bring your competitor number that you get the night before at the weigh-in
gloves to apply tanning lotion
